Conor McGregor has never held back from disparaging any of his opponents, past, present, or prospective future, as well as anyone connected to them.
Unlike to recent events with Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier, Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov never made amends or showed each other respect. Every chance they have had, the two groups have only displayed disrespect.
In keeping with that, the Irishman called Islam Makhachev, a close friend and teammate of Nurmagomedov, among other things, “a convicted steroid cheat.”
“a complete moron. A convicted steroid cheat who will do whatever to avoid impact and prolong a bout and then downplay one of the best battles our female fighters have ever produced. Such tiny gremlins! Back on now. Unclean rats. Disgrace to the game.”
Following a reportedly misogynistic remark Makhachev made during UFC 248, McGregor retaliated with his remarks.
While Zhang Weili and Joanna Jedrzejczyk engaged in what is unquestionably the greatest bout in women’s MMA history and one of the best fights ever in general, Makhachev declared on Twitter that MMA is actually not a sport appropriate for women.
Fans criticised Makhachev for his remark almost immediately, and he later removed the tweet.
Conor McGregor next fight: Islam Makhachev predicts the Irishman will retire if he loses to Michael Chandler
Conor McGregor’s comeback has caused a stir in the MMA community. He will face Michael Chandler at the conclusion of the season while serving as a coach on The Ultimate Fighter for a second time. Makhachev will still hold the title at 155 pounds because he just successfully defended it against Alexander Volkanovski.
Speaking about a possible dance with the former double champion, the current lightweight king suggested that if McGregor loses to Chandler, it might be his last fight:
“The fight is entertaining for UFC fans, but if Chandler prevails, McGregor will undoubtedly call it quits. Every day Conor retires and then returns to Twitter.” During UFC 284 media day, Makhachev said.
Despite his current losing streak, McGregor continues to be the sport’s biggest draw and the UFC opponent who can earn the most money from a bout. The fact that the Irishman will automatically earn a title opportunity if he defeats Chandler is a well-known fact.
