Beneil Dariush, a rising star in the Ultimate Fighting Championship, has stated his desire to compete in a dream bout against the “lightweight GOAT.”

Published:

Beneil Dariush is now undefeated, having won his last eight fights, and is currently ranked fourth in the lightweight category of the UFC. In the co-main event of UFC 288, which will take place one month from now, Dariush is scheduled to compete against Charles Oliveira, also known as the “pride of favela.”

The battle between these two competitors was initially slated to take place at UFC 288, but Oliveira withdrew from the contest, and it was moved to UFC 289 instead. In the lead-up to the fight, Dariush gave an interview to The AllStar in which he discussed his aspirations of facing Khabib Nurmagomedov, whom he referred to as the “lightweight GOAT.”

When asked about the fighter he would most like to face in the UFC, Beneil Dariush gave the following response:

The ideal candidate would be Khabib Nurmagomedov, is that correct? He is the most accomplished lightweight competitor in the world. After defeating Charles Oliviera and Islam Makhachev, the best-case scenario would be for me to have a shot at fighting him, but it’s very clear that’s not going to happen.
To hear Dariush’s thoughts on Khabib Nurmagomedov, fast forward to minute 18:58.

The Iranian-American fighter displayed outstanding grappling and scrambling abilities, which allowed him to neutralize a significant number of Gamrot’s wrestling advances.

Dariush has won his last eight fights, including victories against the likes of Thiago Moises, Drew Dober, and Tony Ferguson. He is currently on a win run of eight fights. His overall record in mixed martial arts competition is 22-4-1, and his promotional record is 16-4-1.
