Recently, Filipino superstar and former Team Lakay standout ‘Thunder Kid’ Lito Adiwang disclosed that he came extremely near to giving up on his career in the previous year. This was due to the fact that he was battling with a persistent anterior cruciate ligament injury that jeopardized his ability to compete.

When Adiwang encountered fellow Filipino fighter Jeremy “The Jaguar” Miado at the famous ONE X event in 2022, he underwent a significant setback that was extremely detrimental to his career. The thirty-year-old unfortunately had a knee injury during the bout, and as a result, he ended up losing the fight by way of a devastating technical knockout in the second round.

It wasn’t until September of 2023 that Adiwang was finally able to return to action after undergoing surgery and spending over 18 months recovering and undergoing rehabilitation. He defeated the Indonesian banger Adrian Mattheis by technical knockout in the first round of their fight.

After a few months had passed, he eventually fought Miado again, and this time he prevailed over him in a narrow match by unanimous decision.

During a recent interview with ONE Championship, Adiwang revealed that there were occasions when he considered leaving up totally. He said that he had considered those times.

“Of course, there were times when I considered giving up, when I questioned whether or not I actually wanted to continue participating in this sport. This was especially true during the periods of my rehabilitation when the pain persistently returned. Not only is it difficult to move, but even stretching it was difficult. At that moment, I began to experience negative thoughts, and I began to wonder whether or not this was still something that I wanted to do.

The fans are fortunate that Adiwang made the decision to continue. He has already returned to full health and shows no indications of the persistent anterior cruciate ligament injury that kept him out of action for a considerable amount of time.
