Unbelievably, Colby Covington asserts that Donald Trump is to blame for his defeat in the third consecutive title bout.

Published:

Colby Covington’s loss to Leon Edwards was his third unsuccessful effort at winning an unchallenged title. ‘Chaos’ feels that the defeat was affected by his association with former President Donald Trump, who was also a candidate for the United States.

A tight bond exists between the controversial politician and the 35-year-old, who is also known to be one of Trump’s favorite fighters in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

Covington is of the opinion that, contrary to him and the majority of the promotion’s top brass, not everyone is a fan of the business tycoon, despite the fact that Trump was met with tremendous cheers at UFC 296, which surrounded him.

During the press conference that took place after the fight at UFC 296, Covington offered an outlandish explanation for his defeat. He said that the judges had ruled against him in the competition due to the fact that he had maintained a contact with the former president:

The courts never favor me, they hate me because I support Trump, and everyone in this building hates Trump, so it is what it is. I felt I had the win, and I thought I did enough, but the judges never favor me. It is not over yet.”

Given that Covington has already lost his third title battle, it is quite doubtful that he will get another opportunity to compete for the title in the near future. After losing his first two fights for the undisputed title to Kamaru Usman, one of which was a technical knockout in the fifth round and the other by unanimous decision, he was not very competitive against Leon Edwards at UFC 296, and he was defeated by Kamaru Usman.

Leon Edwards says Colby Covington is a “dirty human being”

It was a challenging week for Leon Edwards during the UFC 296 fight week. ‘Rocky’ was highly aroused going into the battle since he had been through a stressful pre-fight presser in which ‘Chaos’ made offensive remarks about his late father.

In UFC interview with Joe Rogan that took place inside the octagon after the victory, the welterweight champion expressed his distaste for his opponent by saying the following:

You should know that he is a good guy. It was a hard competition against Kamaru Usman, who I had previously defeated twice. Consequently, he is an excellent competitor, but he is also a filthy human being.

Take a look at the following statements made by Leon Edwards on Colby Covington at 2:49:

Leon Edwards has a professional mixed martial arts career record of 21-3. He has won his last thirteen fights without suffering a single defeat, including victories against notable opponents including as Kamaru Usman, Nate Diaz, and Vicente Luque.

At this point, “Rocky” has successfully defended his title twice, and there is no shortage of potential competitors for the year 2024. Many people are of the opinion that Edwards will face either Shavkat Rakhmonov or Belal Muhammad in the upcoming election.
