Shamil Gasanov is prepared to engage in a three-round fight with Garry Tonon: “I feel excellent”

At ONE Fight Night 12, Shamil Gasanov is prepared to fight all three rounds against Garry Tonon, despite the fact that he might secretly hope that the fight will end sooner.

This Friday, during primetime in the United States, the two submission specialists will face battle in a vital featherweight matchup at the legendary Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

If Gasanov, the fifth-ranked featherweight contender, prevails over Tonon, the second-ranked featherweight contender, he will have the opportunity to move up the rankings by a significant amount.

A short interview that Gasanov had with the South China Morning Post allowed him to discuss his strategy for the upcoming battle against Tonon. This fight is extremely significant to Gasanov, and the conversation came just before the fight.

Gasanov said:

“I feel wonderful. I’m prepared to the fullest extent possible, and I’m all set to put on a display in Lumpinee Stadium. I am prepared to participate in all three rounds. I will be searching for opportunities to end the fight early, but I am completely prepared to go the distance for all three rounds.

When “The Cobra” competed against Kim Jae Woong at ONE on Prime Video 3 in October of 2017, it was one of the most successful debuts in the history of ONE Championship.

In his debut bout on the world stage, Gasanov faced a formidable opponent in the form of Kim, one of the South Korean boxers with the most devastating punching power.

Gasanov, on the other hand, took measures to ensure that Kim would be completely dependent on him. After a few quick exchanges of grappling, the Russian star managed to get Kim on her back and was ready to apply a submission hold.

In the first round of their fight, Gasanov put Kim to sleep with a rear-naked choke after quickly transitioning to the ground. Kim was unable to escape the hold.

If Gasanov wins his bout against Tonon in Thailand, he will have an opportunity to move closer to the ONE featherweight world title and Tang Kai.

All Prime Video customers in North America will have access to a live stream of ONE Fight Night 12 at no additional cost.
