There is not a single person on Earth that reigning and undisputed ONE flyweight Muay Thai world champion ‘The Iron Man’ Rodtang Jitmuangnon would not fight if given the opportunity. That includes going up against a Japanese kickboxing legend who just recently joined with ONE Championship.
Takeru Segawa, a former K-1 world champion, made the announcement earlier this year that he had joined the world’s largest martial arts organization to much acclaim. Almost immediately after the announcement, rumours of a potential clash with the Thai superstar began to spread like wildfire. This announcement was met with much fanfare.
Rodtang, who is 26 years old and a megastar in Thailand, is confident that he and Takeru will ultimately compete against one another in the ring of ONE Championship, and the Thai superstar is even willing to go across seas to make it happen.
In an interview that was conducted exclusively for Sportskeeda MMA, Rodtang stated:
I can’t wait to face Takeru Segawa in battle; it’s something I’ve been looking forward to for a long time. I am eager to take the fight to him in Japan, which is his native land.”
A battle between Rodtang and Takeru would be absolutely tremendous in Tokyo, and it has the potential to become the most significant combat sports event in the annals of Japan’s history. But first things first, Rodtang has to get past his next opponent, which is no sure thing given that it is likely to be the most difficult test he has faced so far in ONE Championship.
Rodtang “The Iron Man” Jitmuangnon, who has the title of ONE flyweight Muay Thai world champion, will defend his title against Superlek “One Flyweight” Kiatmoo9, who holds the title of ONE flyweight kickboxing world champion. This bout between two Thai superstars is highly awaited.
On September 22, ONE Friday Fights 34 will feature a bout between Rodtang and Superlek. This event will take place at the illustrious Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok.
