Shinechagtga Zolsetseg was the opponent that South Korean knockout artist Kwon Won Il faced off against at ONE Fight Night 18 last weekend. Kwon Won Il gave a remarkable performance. Due to some hellacious elbow punches, “Pretty Boy” was able to knock out his Mongolian opponent in just two rounds by way of technical knockout.
The South Korean fighter has been on a tear ever since his most recent fight against the king of his category, Fabricio Andrade, who holds the title of ONE bantamweight MMA world champion. This is his third consecutive victory via technical knockout.
When ‘Pretty Boy’ faced ‘Wonder Boy’ at ONE 158 in 2022, he was defeated by Andrade’s signature body shot, which resulted in a technical knockout to the latter. Following the conclusion of their fateful fight, Andrade went on to win the title, while Kwon won three consecutive fights via technical knockout.
During the media scrum that took place after the bout, Kwon Won Il disclosed his plans for the near future, which are as follows:
“I have only one thing in mind for my next strategy. Just give me a crack at the title. That would be Fabricio. I intend to put an end to his life, that is my goal.
To us, this seems like a really solid strategy. It would appear that the world champion and his old adversary are destined to run across each other once more. Without a doubt, there will be a flurry of activity from the moment the bell rings to the moment it stops.
Kwon Won Il vs. Shinechagtga Zolsetseg at ONE Fight Night 18 play-by-play
In the beginning of his early onslaught, the Korean slugger, who is 28 years old, applied a tremendous amount of pressure and pushed Zoltsetseg back with the help of some clever boxing combinations.
Also surprising everyone was the fact that “Pretty Boy” displayed an area of his game that is not given enough credit: his grappling. Specifically, he accomplished this by frequently defeating Zoltsetseg, who is himself a wrestler with much experience.
Kwon Won Il continued to dominate the second frame despite the fact that the Mongolian was gradually losing control of the battle as a result of the mounting injuries he was sustaining.
Eventually, “Pretty Boy” took the mounted position and battered Zoltsetseg with powerful punches and elbows, which forced referee Herb Dean to call a halt to the fight at 2:40 of the second round.
