Jarred “The Monkey God” Brooks, who holds the title of ONE Strawweight World Champion, is enjoying the wide range of battles that are available to him in ONE Championship. The world champion in mixed martial arts is only 30 years old, but he has the opportunity to compete in other combat sports as well, including kickboxing, Muay Thai, and even boxing.
When Brooks competes in his next bout, which will take place in the ring at ONE Championship, he will be doing so for the very first time in a setting that is entirely foreign to him. This will be a first for him in his whole career.
“The God of the Monkeys” In the co-main event of ONE Fight Night 13: Allazov vs. Grigorian that will be shown on Prime Video, Jarred Brooks is scheduled to compete against ‘Darth Rigatoni’ Mikey Musumeci, who is currently the reigning flyweight submission grappling world champion in the ONE organization.
On Friday, August 4, the event will be telecast live from the illustrious Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
In a recent interview with ONE Championship, Brooks discussed the unusual circumstances that led to the formation of this superfight out of the blue.
The spokesperson from the Mash Fight Team stated:
I was on Instagram at the same time as Chatri [Sityodtong] was on Instagram Live, and I thought to myself, ‘Me versus Mikey.'”
It will be Brooks’ first attempt in submission grappling, and he will be competing for the much sought-after gold medal in the flyweight division. Musumeci, who he will be competing against, is regarded as one of the top grapplers in the world on a pound-for-pound basis and is currently undefeated in ONE Championship.
A battle between ONE featherweight kickboxing world champion Chingiz ‘Chinga’ Allazov and the no. 2-ranked contender Marat Grigorian will also be featured on ONE Fight Night 13, which will be available on Prime Video.
