If Tyson Fury wants to compete in mixed martial arts, Anatoly Malykhin advises him to improve his takedown defense.

Anatoly Malykhin, the reigning world champion in both the light heavyweight and interim heavyweight divisions of ONE Championship, has weighed in on the recent conflict between heavyweight boxing champion Tyson Fury and the mixed martial arts community. ‘The Gypsy King’ just returned from a trip to Thailand, and while he was there, ‘Sladkiy’ promised his assistance to ‘The Gypsy King’ in the event that the legendary boxer ever chose to enter his realm.

It has also been suggested that Fury will compete against the current heavyweight champion of the UFC, Jon Jones. Anatoly Malykhin, who has experience in freestyle wrestling, is willing to be of assistance to the legendary boxer from the United Kingdom.

“Sladkiy” disclosed the following to ONE Championship:

“My experience in wrestling may most definitely come in handy. Takedown defense is something that Tyson Fury needs to work on if he wants to compete in mixed martial arts.
In Russia, where he was born and raised, freestyle wrestler Anatoly Malykhin has achieved a great deal of success. At the national championships held in his country in 2013, the heavyweight slugger with the hefty hands won the bronze medal. When the time comes for Fury and Jones to square off in a mixed martial arts match, “Sladkiy” will undoubtedly be able to instruct Fury on how to wrestle backwards.

In addition to this, Fury needs to learn how to protect himself from leg kicks, clinch attacks, and a variety of other types of strikes. All of these things are ones in which Anatoly Malykhin is capable of enlightening him.

The Russian champion-champ is currently preparing for a big world title unification showdown against his rival, the ONE heavyweight world champion Arjan ‘Singh’ Bhullar, which will take place at ONE Friday Fights 22.

On the 23rd of June, at the illustrious Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Thailand, ‘Sladkiy’ will have the opportunity to unify the ONE heavyweight belts and become the undisputed world heavyweight champion of the promotion. If he is victorious, then perhaps he will be the one to legitimately challenge Jon Jones to a champion versus champion bout that will be remembered for generations to come.

The fight against Bhullar has been scheduled, canceled, rescheduled, and finally booked several times in the recent past. This fight will be the climax of Malykhin’s trek towards the top of the mountain in ONE Championship. Tensions have been rising and anticipation has been growing over the course of many months leading up to this fight.

The 22nd edition of ONE Friday Fights may be watched live and for no cost on any of ONE Championship’s digital platforms, as well as any of the organization’s official broadcast partners.
