Following his battle with Superlek, Danial Williams was motivated to improve his kicking power: “I am attempting to model my approach after his now”

If you want to be the greatest, you have to learn from the best. Australian-Thai firecracker ‘Mini T’ Danial Williams has learned from the striking world’s finest because he has competed against them.

In March of 2018, Williams competed against ‘The Kicking Machine’ Superlek Kiatmuu9, who is the reigning ONE flyweight kickboxing world champion and the current no. 1 ranked flyweight Muay Thai contender. Williams was knocked out in the third round of a fight that was an absolute thriller. However, what he lacked in victory, he more than made up for in years of experience.

Williams said in a recent interview with ONE Championship that his bout with Superlek, who is considered to be one of the most deadly strikers in the world, provided him with a significant amount of education. In addition, he is now working on incorporating a number of Superlek’s hallmark skills into his game.

According to “Mini T,”

“I do my best to imitate his mannerisms now. Just tossing and trying to get back into the swing of things with my passion of kicking. I was boxing almost exclusively while also training in mixed martial arts with my trainers and attempting to establish routines to improve.
Superlek is widely regarded as one of the most dangerous Muay Thai kickboxers on the global stage. Because of his rapid-fire, machine-gun style kicks, he has earned the well titled nickname “The Kicking Machine.” Williams is making an effort to model his strategy after this one.

The man, who is 30, continued:

“I just adored the way Superlek worked—it left quite an impression on me, man. I used to watch all of these fights the same way, but now I do it very differently. That is so nice, how you can just break the angle with the push kick and just his walk-forward strong kick – a hard kick, and that just sets up his hands. Those two moves combined are awesome. It was awesome to learn from him and take what he said to heart in order to improve one’s own kicks, kick volume, and overall kick game.

Will Williams be able to demonstrate his newly acquired skills this weekend? We won’t have to wait long to find out.

In the co-main event of ONE Fight Night 15: Le vs. Freymanov, which will be broadcast live on Prime Video from the legendary Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand on Friday, October 6th, Williams will take on the reigning world champion in the strawweight division of ONE’s kickboxing competition, Jonathan Di Bella.

Fans in the United States and Canada have the opportunity to watch all of the action live and without any additional cost by subscribing to Amazon Prime Video.
