The current holder of the ONE strawweight kickboxing world championship recently discussed his strong relationship with mixed martial arts (MMA) star Georges St-Pierre in an interview with Karyn Bryant. The conversation was conducted by Karyn Bryant.
According to Di Bella, GSP would frequently check up on him and would always provide him with some guidance prior to each of his fights.
When the Italian-Canadian star defends his strap for the first time against Danial Williams this Friday during primetime in the United States at the famous Lumpinee Boxing Stadium as part of ONE Fight Night 15, he will undoubtedly need GSP’s guidance.
Karyn Bryant was advised by Di Bella that:
I’m not sure about that because, for example, in kickboxing, things are done differently. Perhaps the men who compete in mixed martial arts (MMA) feel that pressure. Not so in the sport of kickboxing. It’s a little bit like that as well, but I don’t really feel it because Georges is the finest fighter in MMA, he’s a legend, and he watches out for all of us. As in, he constantly sends all of us messages and texts, and he’s quite enthusiastic about supporting us in this endeavor. In addition to that, he is going to witness ONE Fight Night 15. Therefore, he must be thrilled.
This was not the first time that Di Bella discussed his connection to the former welterweight and middleweight world champion in the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
After Di Bella, age 27, defeated Zhang Peimian to win the ONE Strawweight Kickboxing World Title at ONE 162 in October 2022, St-Pierre expressed on social media how proud he was of his accomplishment.
The tenth Amazon card of the year, ONE Fight Night 15, will be available to watch live and for free on Prime Video in North America. The event is part of ONE Championship.
