Drake, a well-known Canadian rapper who sometimes loses a lot of money betting on UFC fights, managed to win at UFC 287. He won a staggering $2.7 million from two bets he made in Israel Adesanya’s favour.The rapper faced challenges while participating in the event because he also lost a lot of money betting on Jorge Masvidal.
The singer for One Dance wagered $500k on “The Last Stylebender” to prevail in the fight. He then placed an additional $400k wager on the Nigerian-born Kiwi winning the bout by knockout.
Drake earned $885k for correctly predicting the winner and $1.840 million for correctly predicting the winning strategy, for a total reward of $2.725 million, after Adesanya knocked off Alex Pereira to end the programme in the second round.
Additionally, he had wagered a total of $500k in support of Jorge Masvidal in his contest with Gilbert Burns. The rapper’s luck was less favorable, though, as the Brazilian won the battle by unanimous decision.
The Drake Curse, which effectively states any fighters the rapper bets on are guaranteed to lose, is the most well-known joke based on Drake’s bad luck with gambling.
The Drake Curse, however, appears to have been finally broken as the rapper won hefty bets on Adesanya and Jon Jones at UFC 287 and UFC 285, respectively.
When Israel Adesanya rubbished the Drake Curse
Israel Adesanya, the current UFC middleweight champion, is not one of the numerous athletes who have through the years developed a reputation for being extremely superstitious.
After defeating Jared Cannonier, “The Last Stylebender” discussed the silliness of the curse-belief during a press conference at UFC 276.
The middleweight kingpin claims that anyone who believes these ridiculous curses is “stupid.” The 33-year-old explained to the media how he has broken many of these purported curses, including the Drake Curse.
