The news that a fighter on the main event of UFC 285 has been forced to withdraw from their fight has given a serious blow to the card.
The biggest fight of Julio Arce and Cody Garbrandt’s UFC careers thus far was scheduled to take place in a bantamweight matchup. But, according to MMA writer Marcel Droff, Arce’s injury has forced him out of the fight.
“INJURY. Jacques Arce gets hurt. He will not compete against Cody Garbrandt as scheduled for #UFC285 on March 4th.
The writer also stated that the UFC is actively looking for a replacement and is still attempting to keep “No Love” on the bill.
“Cody will most certainly remain on the roster.
As he makes another effort to turn his career around, Cody Garbrandt will be hoping the UFC is fast to find him a challenger. The 31-year-old has dropped five of his last six fights, including his most recent two.
After suffering back-to-back KO/TKO losses to longtime opponent T.J. Dillashaw, the American has struggled to regain his championship-winning form. Garbrandt has won just one fight since giving up the title in 2017, a dramatic last-second knockout victory over Raphael Assunço at UFC 250.
