Ahead of their title fight at UFC 292, the training camp for Sean O’Malley has acknowledged Aljamain Sterling as the “most dangerous” bantamweight.

The bantamweight star Sean O’Malley is scheduled to compete against Aljamain Sterling in the main event of UFC 292, which will take place later this year. This will be O’Malley’s first attempt at a UFC title.

Sterling successfully defended his bantamweight championship against Henry Cejudo at UFC 288 a few weeks ago. As a result of his victory, Sterling became the first bantamweight champion in the history of contemporary mixed martial arts to successfully defend his title three times. Following Sterling’s victory, O’Malley entered the octagon, which is where things came dangerously close to escalating into a violent altercation.

Tim Welch, Sean O’Malley’s coach, gave an interview to ESPN MMA not long ago in which he provided a preview of the main event of UFC 292. Welch spoke very highly of the skillset possessed by Aljamain Sterling, and he said the following:

“From a stylistic perspective, this bantamweight champion is the most dangerous one that has ever existed. That is my sincere opinion. He has incredible athleticism, he’s long and he’s powerful, and he’s not just a good wrestler; he’s a terrific wrestler who’s also skilled in jiu-jitsu. He’s a formidable opponent. And he’s really funky, he’s quirky, he switches stance and throws spazzy things, and he’s funky. He is skilled at stringing together his bouts of wrestling. He is without a doubt the most dangerous bantamweight that the world has ever seen.

Two championship bouts are scheduled to take place on the UFC 292 card: Aljamain Sterling will defend his belt against Sean O’Malley, and Zhang Weili will square off against Amanda Lemos.

After facing Petr Yan in the octagon for the final time in October 2022 at UFC 280, O’Malley will be itching to get back into the cage as soon as possible. While Sterling’s enthusiasm for the forthcoming showdown in August might be lower than usual. The ‘Funk Master’ has a harder time than most others getting down to the bantamweight limit of 135 pounds. The prospect of having to undergo two or more weight loss surgeries in such a short period of time is not likely to excite him in any way.

Sean O’Malley discusses Aljamain Sterling not wanting to fight in August

The main event of UFC 292, which will take place in August, will feature a fight between Sean O’Malley and Aljamain Sterling for the bantamweight championship. It would appear that the “Funk Master” is not particularly pleased with the date that they have scheduled their bout for, though.

O’Malley recently provided his response to the news that he will be fighting Sterling, and in it, ‘Sugar’ claimed that he will be prepared for the fight at UFC 292, regardless of who he fights there. According to Sean O’Malley, Sterling expressed a preference for having their fight take place in the month of September.

The following was discussed by ‘Sugar’ during the 108th episode of the BrOMalley Show:

“I will be there on August 19 regardless of whether or not [Sterling] shows up or if they substitute someone else. Daddy’s going to be the main attraction and the headliner for the championship belt no matter what, regardless of whether it’s Sterling or not.
