One of Leon Edwards’ career-defining moments will always be UFC 286. At the pay-per-view on March 18, “Rocky” defied all expectations by defeating his bitter rival and former pound-for-pound No. 1 fighter Kamaru Usman to successfully defend his welterweight belt. Hollywood A-listers flocked to the O2 Arena in London to watch the thrilling fight card, including Miles Teller from Top Gun: Maverick, Academy Award winner Jared Leto, and Maisie Williams from Game of Thrones.
Even Spider-Man from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), Tom Holland, was present at the O2 to support his fellow Brit. …….. and…………….
In the video, Holland is seen praising the welterweight champion for a strong performance. The 26-year-old Marvel actor then gave the UFC fighter a tour of his family before the two posed for a photo.
Some of the more successful MCU endeavours are the Spider-Man films starring Tom Holland. The 26-year-old is getting ready to play the part of the New York web-slinger in yet another solo adventure after three successful solo ventures. In a similar vein, Edwards is having a tremendously successful career. He hasn’t experienced loss in nearly seven years. He has a professional record of 21-3-0 with one no-contest at the age of 31. (13-2-0 and one NC in the UFC).
Edwards can boast victories over a number of well-known opponents, including Vicente Luque, Nate Diaz, Rafael Dos Anjos, Donald Cerrone, and Nate Diaz.
Who might be Leon Edwards’ next opponent?
Leon Edwards, the current welterweight champion, appears to be looking to make amends in his upcoming bout. The British fighter at UFC 286 intimated that his next opponent will be the victor of Jorge Masvidal versus Gilbert Burns in his post-fight interview with Daniel Cormier.
While Colby Covington will be the next in line for a shot at the title, UFC president Dana White revealed this during the press conference following the bout.
Nonetheless, it’s likely that “Rocky” is aiming to face “Gamebred” next. Masvidal and Edwards have a somewhat tumultuous past. The American at UFC Fight Night 147 jumped “Rocky” backstage and fired a few good shots, leaving him bleeding. The 31-year-old has repeatedly expressed his desire to face the Miami native since capturing the welterweight title. Hence, Jorge Masvidal might get his third chance at the welterweight title with a victory at UFC 287.
