‘The Immortal’ Regian Eersel, the reigning lightweight Muay Thai and kickboxing world champion, is growing increasingly comfortable with four-ounce gloves, much to the dismay of his opponents.
Although the Dutch-Surinamese superstar, who is 30 years old and holds the 170-pound Muay Thai and kickboxing belts in ONE Championship, is a relative newcomer in “the art of eight limbs,” having only participated in Muay Thai twice before, he is the current holder of both belts.
Only for the third time in his career will he put on the four-ounce gloves to defend his world title when he returns to the ring for his next title defense.
In a recent interview with ONE Championship, Eersel discussed how he has developed a strong appreciation for competing in the sport of Muay Thai.
According to “The Immortal,”
“This will be comparable to my [third] fight using the four-ounce gloves,” the fighter said. It’s almost like I have two different boot camps following one another now. This is my third time participating in a boot camp. As a result, I’m experiencing a greater sense of ease.
The subsequent time that Eersel puts the ONE lightweight Muay Thai world title on the line, he will compete against an opponent that poses a significant threat with the goal of establishing his superiority over that opponent.
At ONE Fight Night 11: Eersel vs. Menshikov, which will air on Prime Video, two-time ONE world champion “The Immortal” Regian Eersel will defend his lightweight Muay Thai title against Russian knockout artist Dmitry Menshikov. This fight will take place in the lightweight division.
On Friday, June 9, the event will be televised live from the legendary Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, and will be available to fans in the United States and Canada who have an active subscription to Amazon Prime Video at no additional cost.
