As atomweight prospects ‘Android 18’ Itsuki Hirata and ‘Zombie’ Ayaka Miura, a past challenger for the ONE women’s strawweight MMA world title, squared up against each other, it was a fierce clash between two Japanese femme fatales.
The fight between the two took place at ONE 165: Superlek vs. Takeru, which was broadcast live from the Ariake Arena in Tokyo, Japan, on the 28th of January to the public.
In her first fight at the atomweight division, Miura displayed a workmanlike performance against Hirata. Hirata just did not have an answer for the constant grappling pressure that Miura applied at her opponent. In the end, the fight was decided by a unanimous judgment, with all three judges deciding that ‘Zombie’ should be declared the winner.
Miura went straight to work at the sound of the opening bell, instantly putting the fight into a clinch after marching out to the ONE Championship ring full of emotion. He did this soon after coming out of the ring. During the time that ‘Android 18’ was doing her best to stop Miura from taking down Hirata, she went into defensive mode.
In spite of the fact that she was completely overpowered in the first round, Hirata was observed dancing in her corner while maintaining a positive attitude.
Miura, on the other hand, proceeded to demonstrate her superiority in the second round, smashing Hirata with her grappling pressure for the entirety of the frame.
Miura finished the show by clinging to Hirata like glue and continued to work on obtaining her iconic scarf-hold Americana. This was done despite the fact that ‘Zombie’ was presumably up on the scorecards by a significant margin.
The judges’ scorecards showed that ‘Zombie’ was the winner of the bout, despite the fact that Miura was unable to finish the fight. There was little doubt who was in control during the whole battle. The victory was Miura’s thirteenth victory of her career, and it was her second consecutive victory in ONE Championship.
The victory, which was without a doubt outstanding, opens the door for Miura to compete in the top five atomweight division next.
