UFC passes on Valentina Shevchenko rematch, books Taila Santos vs Erin Blanchfield for Feb. 18

Despite their thrilling encounter at UFC 275 in June, the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) will not rematch Taila Santos and Valentina Shevchenko; rather, they will place the Brazilian contender in a potential title eliminator against 125-pound phenom Erin Blanchfield at the “Fight Night” event on February 18. This event is tentatively scheduled for the APEX facility in Las Vegas.

On Morning Kombat, Blanchfield made the announcement.

After going 4-1 inside the Octagon and making her imprint on Dana White’s “Contender Series” in the summer of 2018, Santos (19-2) pushed Shevchenko to the limit in their pay-per-view (PPV) co-main event in Singapore.

Blanchfield (10-1), who is still only 23 years old, has never lost in the Octagon since leaving Invicta FC in late 2020. “Cold Blooded” recently defeated JJ Aldrich and Molly McCann by submission in back-to-back matches.

According to the most recent rankings, Manon Fiorot should be the next flyweight title contender.

The middleweight battle between Abus Magomedov and Gerald Meerschaert will also be on the Feb. 18 fight event. Philipe Lins will make another try to connect with Ovince Saint Preux at 205 pounds elsewhere on the card.
