When Superlek Kiatmoo9 fights Tagir Khalilov in his upcoming ONE Championship match, he only wants a quick night at the office.
This Friday, US primetime, at the renowned Lumpinee Boxing Stadium, the current ONE flyweight kickboxing world champion will square off against Khalilov in a flyweight Muay Thai match in the main event of ONE Fight Night 12: Superlek vs. Khalilov on Prime Video.
Superlek, who is frequently considered as one of the best strikers of his time, stated that he is only interested in defeating Khalilov by knockout in Bangkok.
However, knockouts aren’t that simple to get, and Superlek is aware of this.
Superlek stated in a ONE Championship interview:
The outcome of the game will determine this. I’ll be honest; I want to kill the guy. But I am aware of his strength and tenacity.
Superlek is 7-0 in Muay Thai battles for the ONE Championship and has a promotional record of 10-1.
Superlek is a tough and persistent attacker who has just won two straight ONE Championship knockout matches. A first-round knockout of 6-foot-2 sensation Nabil Anane at ONE Friday Fights 22 last month was the most recent of his highlight-reel victories.
At ONE Fight Night 8 in March of last year, he defeated Danial Williams to retain the ONE flyweight kickboxing world title by dominating Williams over three rounds.
Superlek, on the other hand, thinks that Khalilov will be a completely different kind of test.
One of the most courageous athletes competing in the ONE Championship right now, Khalilov will willingly accept the punishment if it provides him a chance to score his own blow.
Samingpri entered the ONE Championship with a record of 0-2 after losing his first match by split decision to Rodtang Jitmuangnon, the world champion at flyweight in Muay Thai. Despite a shaky start, Khalilov recovered with two first-round knockout victories over Thai heavyweights Black Panther and Chorfah Tor Sangtiennoi. Khalilov eventually acquired the unofficial moniker “Thai Killer” in the Muay Thai community thanks to those two victories.
