Regian Eersel, a two-time world champion, chooses to perceive himself in a more modest light by perceiving himself as a warrior.

Although it is common knowledge that world champions will always have egos, it is also common knowledge that they will always keep a sense of humility about themselves. Just look at Regian Eersel.

The Surinamese superstar is the current holder of the ONE lightweight kickboxing and Muay Thai world championships, but Eersel isn’t the kind to flaunt his accomplishments for the sake of his reputation.

The world champion in two different sports recently gave an interview to Sensai Sam in which he stated that he does not consider himself to be an all-conquering world champion. Instead, he sees himself as a regular guy who has nothing special about him.

However, Eersel still has a certain amount of faith in him despite recent events.

“I’m not a world champion and I’m not here to teach others what they have to do in order to be successful. My life is like this, and your life is like that. You should know that all of us are human beings. I believe in myself.”

Although ‘The Immortal’ likes to keep a low profile, his record in ONE Championship is truly something to want.

Eersel has lived up to his fabled reputation by blasting through the division and compiling a perfect 9-0 record in the promotion. This has enabled him to live up to the expectations that came with it. The world champion in two sports also has a perfect record of 7-0 in battles for his world titles and a perfect record of 5-0 in defenses of his world titles.

After defeating the Dutch kickboxing great Nieky Holzken at ONE: Enter the Dragon in May 2019, Eersel was crowned the first-ever ONE Lightweight Kickboxing World Champion.

Eersel became the inaugural ONE lightweight Muay Thai world champion when he defeated Sinsamut Klinmee at ONE on Prime Video 3. This victory came after Eersel had successfully defended his kickboxing title four times in a row.

Eersel is now on the second defense of his Muay Thai belt, and he will be taking on the debuting Dmitry Menshikov at ONE Fight Night 11: Eersel vs. Menshikov, which will be broadcast on Prime Video.

This next Friday, during primetime in the United States, ONE Fight Night 11 will take place in the legendary Lumpinee Boxing Stadium. The event will be streamed live and for free to all Prime Video customers in North America.
