At ONE 166: Qatar, which will take place on March 1, Muay Thai legend Nong-O Hama will be making his return, and he is hoping that this time it will be the charm.

The former ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world champion has been on the path to a comeback ever since he lost his title to Jonathan Haggerty at ONE Fight Night 9 in April of the previous year.

Unfortunately, his aspirations to return to the winner’s column were derailed when he was knocked out by Scottish striker Nico Carrillo in the second round of their fight at ONE Friday Fights 46 in December. Both fighters were from Scotland.

The ‘Art of Eight Limbs’ specialist is ready to fire his way to another opportunity to win the crown that he once had. He has made some alterations in his training camp in preparation for this opportunity.

The Lusail Sports Arena will serve as the venue for this mission, which will be a fight against the Russian star Vladimir Kuzmin. This fight will mark ONE’s first appearance in the region.

Despite the fact that Nong-O has had a difficult time finding form in recent matches, there is no denying the fact that the striker, who is 37 years old, is among the very greatest to ever carry out such a feat.

On the other hand, it is still intriguing to see if the former divisional king has what it takes to regain the form that allowed him to go on a winning streak of ten fights on the international stage of ONE Championship.

Kuzmin is out to make a statement against Nong-O

The fact that Nong-O has fought more than 300 times, won four Lumpinee Stadium Muay Thai world championships in several divisions, and won a Rajadamnern Stadium world title demonstrates that he has more than enough experience to conquer any challenge that Kuzmin may present.

However, the Russian player, who is 26 years old, is eager to build on his remarkable triumph against Fabio Reis in November of the previous year. A victory over the former divisional king would be the ideal statement for him to make in order to get a chance to compete for Haggerty’s gold.

In February of 2022, the Fight Club Archangel Michael affiliate made its debut with a convincing victory over Chris Shaw of Scotland. However, later that same year, they were defeated by Muangthai and ‘The General’.

In spite of the fact that Nong-O would be yet another challenging test, he is accustomed to facing challenges of this nature before he joined the ONE roster.
