Nieky Holzken discusses the intriguing motivation behind his decision to compete against Cosmo Alexandre in mixed martial arts.

When Nieky Holzken faced off against Cosmo Alexander in a kickboxing match, he was in his natural habitat and dominating the competition.

Before making his debut in ONE Championship in November 2018, the Dutchman had already established himself as a relatively well-known figure in the kickboxing community by virtue of his four victories at the Glory Kickboxing world championships. However, he caused even more of a stir in the Circle when, in the last minutes of the second round, he knocked Alexander out senseless.

People’s thoughts continue to be dominated by the infamous knockout even in this day and age. Now, try to picture how these two all-time greats of the sport would perform inside of a mixed martial arts (MMA) cage. Would Holzken even allow himself to entertain such a thought?

“The Natural” reconnected with fans on Reddit’s “Ask Me Anything” and provided the following response when asked about a prospective mixed martial arts showdown against his former adversary in order to promote his forthcoming fight this week.

Nieky Holzken is willing to sacrifice anything for the sake of martial arts and the supporters who support it. The fact that he is skilled in both kickboxing and Muay Thai is evidence enough to imply that he is willing to try anything that is logical. Boxing is just one of the many aspects of martial arts that are incorporated into his unique combat technique, which is both intriguing and entertaining.

He was one of the most successful sportsmen to come out of the Netherlands during his time, having racked up over one hundred victories between kickboxing and boxing over the course of his lengthy and illustrious career. Now that his career is coming to a close, he wants to cap it off by adding one more belt to his collection.

After an absence of more than a year, ‘The Natural’ will make his comeback to the arena on June 9 in an effort to re-enter the race for a world championship. As the first step toward obtaining that renowned belt, he will compete against Arian Sadikovic at ONE Fight Night 11: Eersel vs. Sadikovic, which will be broadcast on Prime Video.

The eleventh installment of Watch ONE Fight Night will take place at the Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Thailand and will be streamed live and for free during primetime in the United States. Viewers in North America who have a subscription to Amazon Prime will not miss a moment of the action.
