If given the chance to battle ONE Strawweight World Champion Jarred Brooks, Joshua Pacio is more than willing to make a speedy comeback. Brooks is currently undefeated in his division.
Pacio rebounded back in a major manner at ONE Fight Night 15, gaining a unanimous decision victory over Russian standout Mansur Malacheiv. Pacio had previously lost his ONE world title to ‘The Monkey God’ in December. Pacio’s place as the top ranked contender in the category was reaffirmed as a result of this victory, and it also put him in a position where he could potentially mount a challenge for the strawweight MMA world title.
Pacio stated to members of the media present during his presentation at the post-fight press briefing for ONE Fight Night 15 that he would “grab it” if they gave him the opportunity to face Jarred Brooks. As I’ve already stated, “Like what I’ve said, if they give me Bokang or someone else in the top five, I’ll still grab it.”
‘The Passion’ appears to be the next guy in line to battle Jarred Brooks. However, ‘The Passion’ has claimed that he will gladly accept another top-five opponent if it moves him toward securing himself an opportunity to retrieve 26 pounds of gold. ‘The Passion’ has won five of his previous six bouts.
Bokang Masunyane, who is currently ranked second, is another possibility who could compete against Joshua Pacio. The ‘Little Giant’ has been victorious in three of his previous four bouts, including a decision victory over Hiroba Minowa in his most recent outing, which took place in April at ONE Fight Night 9.
Jarred Brooks is the most recent man to have victory against both Pacio and Masunyane.
Since he won the world title around the close of the previous year, “The Monkey God” has not yet defended it. However, he did enter the Circle in August for a submission superfight against Mikey Musumeci. The fight ended in a draw.
