Prior to their fight at UFC 283, Johnny Walker and Paul Craig engaged in a heated exchange at the ceremonial weigh-ins.
As a nod to his Scottish background, Craig wore traditional blue face paint, some of which got on Walker’s face as their heads collided during the face-off. The Brazilian doesn’t appear to mind, and he plans to smear Craig’s blood over his face in the octagon on Saturday.
The man who will battle in the main event of UFC 283 against Glover Teixeira, Jamahal Hill, has previously squared off against both Johnny Walker and Paul Craig. Hill defeated Walker via KO, while Craig handed “Sweet Dreams” his lone professional setback.
‘Bearjew’ applied an armbar to Hill, fully dislocating his elbow and rendering him helpless against Craig’s blows, culminating in a TKO finish.
Craig’s victory against Hill will undoubtedly be on his mind, and if Hill wins the championship and performs well against Johnny Walker, a rematch for the UFC light heavyweight title may happen.
Johnny Walker is prepared for Paul Craig’s deadly submission game
The Brazilian fighter, Johnny Walker, believes that he is more than prepared to handle with Paul Craig’s superb submission game before their battle. Johnny Walker’s fighting style centres on his athleticism and powerful striking.
Craig is one of the best Brazilian jiu-jitsu fighters in MMA right now. 13 of his 16 victories throughout his career have been achieved through submission. Walker has said that he will be able to defend against Craig’s attempts despite “Bearjew” having four victories with the deadly triangle choke in the UFC.
Being a brown belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, the Brazilian is confident in his grappling abilities and thinks he can stop Craig from submitting. Prior to UFC 283, Walker stated to the media:
“I’ve done a lot of drills, triangle escapes, and takedown defence to get ready for him. He has been competing against non-jiu-jitsu experts. I train BJJ for many years and am somewhat of a specialist in jiu-jitsu. I have pretty good jiu-jitsu. Brown belt, that’s me.
