Jake Paul: Beef with Tommy Fury not real, taking out anger at hateful critics on him

Published:

For almost two years, Jake Paul and Tommy Fury have been at odds over the prospect of a boxing match. Paul, though, now denies having a particular grudge against Fury.

The fact that “The Problem Child” based his boxing career on competing against retired MMA fighters has drawn a lot of criticism. Paul asserts that his dispute with Fury is an outburst of his ire at his detractors.

But that doesn’t mean “The Problem Child” thinks highly of his next rival. Paul claims that Fury puts on a whole show to uphold the reputation of his family, who also gave birth to heavyweight champion Tyson Fury. According to a 25-year-old during a BT Sport interview:

I do think that Tommy is like a conceited kid who doesn’t really believe what he’s saying. He’s kind of just copying his father and his brother. I would say he’s like an imposter in that sense. He has this false bravado and false confidence, and I see right through it. It’s not even about it being him; it’s more about the critics who have said, “Fight a real boxer” and “fight someone your age

Tommy Fury responds to Jake Paul’s ‘family name’ digs

There have been two previous attempts to schedule Tommy Fury vs. Jake Paul, but both attempts failed. For the third time, it has been scheduled for February 26 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Even more recently, the two squared off inside the ring during the London bout between Anthony Yarde and Artur Beterbiev. However, Paul has a backup in the form of former UFC fighter Mike Perry because he is still doubtful that Fury would be able to compete.

The prospective opponent, according to “The Problem Child,” is the family “puppet” who is doing their best to uphold the family name. Fury claims, though, that despite the family name, he doesn’t feel any pressure. TNT said to BBC Newsbeat:

“I’m not under any pressure… I’m not Tyson. Never will I be Tyson. When Tyson appears in 100 years… Just becoming the best version of myself is all I’m aiming for.”

Tommy Fury won’t, however, continue his half-brother Tyson’s custom of breaking into song if he defeats Paul. Fury said that his partner Molly Mae’s pregnancy won’t have an impact on their battle with Jake Paul.
