In the trilogy bout, Demetrious Johnson made every effort to compensate for Adriano Moraes’ lack of activity.

In the third and final installment of their trilogy encounter, which took place at ONE Fight Night 10, Demetrious Johnson tried all in his power to remain active and look for a finish.

Earlier this month, the two flyweight greats put an end to their storied rivalry as Demetrious Johnson successfully defended his ONE Flyweight World Title with a hard-fought Unanimous Decision. Even though the battle did not result in a spectacular knockout like their previous two bouts did, it was nonetheless an entertaining chess match between two of the best fighters in the world.

During an appearance on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani, ‘Mighty Mouse’ discussed the main event at ONE Fight Night 10 and said that he did everything he could to stay active despite Adriano Moraes’ inactivity:

“I did my best trying to stay active in there, getting heavy on the arm, pushing his arm away, throwing an elbow, throwing a knee, throwing a high knee, and then when he backed up I was right on him to begin with.”

After completing the first trilogy of his professional career, Demetrious Johnson will carefully consider his options moving forward before deciding whether or not he will continue to compete or will hang up his gloves for good. Should Johnson decide to make his comeback to the ring, it is quite likely that he will be required to defend his ONE world title against Kairat Akhmetov, who is now ranked second among flyweight contenders.

After defeating Reece McLaren of Australia at ONE Fight Night 10, ‘The Kazakh’ proved that he deserves to be the next man in line by earning that right with his sixth consecutive victory.
