Veteran athletes who have competed in combat sports are fully aware that their time spent on the mountain could come to an end at any moment. Phetjeeja, a rising star in the sport of Muay Thai, is more than happy to take on the challenge. The same can be said for those who are looking to become the next big thing.

Phetjeeja was last seen by fans of ONE Championship at the promotion’s final card of 2023, which was held at ONE Friday Fights 46. at that fight, she faced kickboxing megastar Anissa Meksen, which was a fight that made her a star.

The fight was the Thai youngster’s first professional kickboxing match, and although many people were quick to conclude that she would not be successful before the battle, Phetjeeja wanted to show those who were skeptical that she was capable of winning. She certainly did so in a dramatic manner by achieving a victory by unanimous decision, which allowed her to gain the interim world title in the atomweight division of ONE Championship.

When Phetjeeja was interviewed by the South China Morning Post, he discussed the pressure that was present in the time leading up to the bout against Meksen.

Phetjeeja stated, “I do agree that I was the underdog because she was more superior to me in terms of both speed and physical strength.” I agree with you that she is a highly powerful person. I have the impression that her abilities are truly unparalleled, and unlike Muay Thai, it is not the same. The rules were a little bit more tilted in her favor, and you are not allowed to use any elbows or other such things.

Phetjeeja is also gunning for Muay Thai world title

The 22-year-old believes that she has proven her case to challenge for the Muay Thai equivalent of the belt that she now possesses after her outstanding performance against Meksen. This is because she was able to successfully defend herself against Meksen following her triumphant performance.

In the event that she is successful in unifying the ONE atomweight kickboxing world titles versus Janet Todd, Phetjeeja will be able to fulfill her dream of following in the footsteps of her hero Stamp Fairtex, who was the first person in the historic history of ONE Championship to ever win three championships in a single event.

She must also defeat Allycia Hellen Rodrigues, who is currently the reigning atomweight Muay Thai queen, in order to accomplish this.
