At the next ONE Friday Fights 34 event, Superlek Kiatmoo9 will take part in a dream fight that will take place on the world’s biggest stage.
This coming Friday, September 22, in the illustrious Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, the current world champion in the flyweight division of ONE Kickboxing will attempt to become a two-sport world champion.
This fight between two of the best strikers on the planet will determine who will face Rodtang Jitmuangnon for the ONE flyweight Muay Thai world championship. The stakes could not possibly be any greater than they are in this matchup.
While he is intent on achieving victory in this bout, ‘The Kicking Machine’ has also set his sights on another opponent whom he would like to face again in the near or far future.
Back in 2018, Superlek fought Jonathan Haggerty, and although winning the battle thanks to a stoppage by the doctor, he was left with a sense of dissatisfaction.
If he is successful against Rodtang on Friday, he will have a better chance of challenging “The General,” who is the current holder of the ONE bantamweight Muay Thai title.
During an interview with Yokkao, he discussed his initial encounter with Haggerty and the reasons why he would like to have a rematch with him so that there is no room for debate over the outcome:
“When I think back to my bout with Haggerty, I won by technical knockout. Nevertheless, it appeared that the audience was dissatisfied with the result, and as a result, I desired to have a rematch.
He continued:
“I want to fight him once more, this time with him at the height of his power,” she said. The crowd was upset with the decision that was made after our most recent fight because it was not a convincing victory. As a result, I want a rematch to settle the issue once and for all.
