Due to injury, UFC 287 loses a crucial welterweight bout.

Published:

With less than two weeks until fight night, the UFC 287 card just faced a significant setback.Due to an injury, a bout between welterweight contenders Li Jingliang and Michael Chiesa has been postponed. Jingliang initially stated on the Chinese social media site Douyin that a potential surgically repairable spine injury would prevent him from competing against Chiesa on April 8.

Whether Chiesa has secured a replacement for the UFC 287 fight card is yet unknown. ‘Maverick’ hasn’t fought in a year and a half, and when he does, he’ll be hoping to snap a two-fight losing streak. Li Jingliang, aka “The Leech,” has now lost three of his last five fights including a contentious split decision loss to Daniel Rodriguez in September.

Due to Khamzat Chimaev’s significant weight loss, the Chinese star was rescheduled to face Tony Ferguson at UFC 279, but she was given the worse deal.

The UFC 287 card now reads as follows following the most recent cancellation:

Israel Adesanya vs. Alex Pereira for the middleweight championship

Jorge Masvidal and Gilbert Burns

Adrian Yanez vs. Rob Font

Raul Rosas Jr. will take on Christian Rodriguez.

Santiago Ponzinibbio versus Kevin Holland

Kelvin Gastelum versus Chris Curtis

TBA vs. Michael Chiesa

vs Joseph Pyfer, Gerald Meerschaert

Lupita Godinez vs. Cynthia Calvillo

Between Michelle Waterson-Gomez and Luana Pinheiro

Shayilan Nuerdanbieke vs Steve Garcia

Chase Sherman vs. Chris Barnett

TBA versus Ignacio Bahamondes

Sam Hughes vs. Jaqueline Amorim
