‘Buchecha’ is unconcerned with his opponents: I simply want to go there and engage in combat.

Published:

Marcus ‘Buchecha’ Almeida is eager to compete once more on the international stage of ONE Championship, and on Friday, August 4, he will get his dream at ONE Fight Night 13.

However, ‘Bucheca’ admits he doesn’t really care who he fights in case the Senegalese heavyweight pulls out of their titanic matchup after a few ailments and problems delayed the Almeida vs. Oumar Kane fight over the past couple of years.

‘Buchecha’ told The MMA Superfan the following when asked if he thought Kane will make the cut:

“To be completely honest, I couldn’ care less about that. I only want to go there and engage in combat. I don’t give a damn about the opposition.

‘Buchecha’ was slated to face Kane in the first quarter of 2021 for both his MMA debut and promotional debut. The match had to be called off due to ‘Reug Reug’s’ injury, unfortunately.

Shortly after, the multiple-time world champion in Brazilian jiu-jitsu defeated Anderson Silva and Kang Ji Won in consecutive first-round fights. Early in 2022, the Singapore-based company made another attempt to schedule a date with Kane. The Senegalese martial artist withdrew once more because of an injury.

At that moment, ‘Buchecha’ appeared to be upset and turned his ire on two more accomplished fighters, Simon Carson and Kirill Grishenko, dispatching them by TKO and submission, respectively.

At ONE Fight Night 13, if everything goes according to plan and both guys are healthy, the pair will square off in one of the most eagerly awaited heavyweight fights of the year.

Fans in North America who have a valid Amazon Prime Video subscription can see the August 4 bill live and for nothing.
