Since Julio Arce withdrew due to injury, Cody Garbrandt will now compete at UFC bantamweight versus Trevin Jones on March 4.
The former UFC bantamweight champion will now fight Trevin Jones, according to renowned MMA writer and journalist Brett Okamoto. Julio Arce was supposed to take on the former champion. Arce, however, withdrew from consideration, citing an injury.
Rani Yahya was scheduled to fight Garbrandt twice in 2022; however, Yahya pulled out of both bouts, depriving Garbrandt of an opponent since December 2021.
In his most recent contest, Kai Kara-France won by first-round TKO over ‘No Love’ in his flyweight debut. Garbrandt was scheduled to compete against Arce at bantamweight, where he won the UFC championship in 2016.
Trevin Jones, who is now on a three-fight losing streak, will seize the chance to demonstrate his capacity to take on a challenger of Cody Garbrandt’s skill.
Cody Garbrandt at flyweight division
After a string of defeats, Cody “No Love” Garbrandt is prepared to fight at flyweight once more.
But in 2021, the finest fighter in the division, Kai Kara France, knocked him out in the first round, ruining his eagerly anticipated flyweight debut.
Garbrandt was scheduled to fight Deiveson Figueiredo in his flyweight debut, but he had to pull out after testing positive for COVID-19. The former bantamweight champion has recently struggled with a number of outside-the-cage setbacks, including severe viral symptoms, spine, and kidney problems. As a result, he was unable to compete in his November UFC 255 title fight against Figueiredo.
On January 3, 2015, at UFC 182, Cody Garbrandt made his professional debut against Marcus Brimage, making it eight years after his debut in the UFC. Through a TKO in the third round, he prevailed.
Since his outstanding performance against Dominick Cruz in 2016, Garbrandt has only triumphed once, and that was against Raphael Assuncao at UFC 250. Since capturing the UFC bantamweight championship, he has suffered five losses.
