Following yet another impressive stoppage victory in his most recent match, the Iranian wrestling phenom Amir Aliakbari is quickly gaining more self-assurance.
Aliakbari completely destroyed the Canadian heavyweight Dustin Joynson by pinning his opponent in a mounted crucifix and launching a flurry of powerful blows from the top position while maintaining the hold. At ONE Fight Night 12: Superlek vs. Khalilov, which took place on Friday, July 14, at the legendary Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, the two heavyweight competitors engaged in a critical exchange of punches during the fight.
Aliakbari began his post-fight interview with experienced ONE Championship broadcast commentator Mitch Chilson shortly after the performance had concluded. Chilson was there to conduct the interview. He said:
“Chatri, I want to express my gratitude for the opportunity you’ve provided me, but in the past you’ve stated that Malykhin is the best heavyweight in the world. Now I will demonstrate to you who hands down is the most dominant heavyweight fighter in the planet. Let’s have this f***ing fight already. Malykhin! Come on over here, you old mate! The next time, you may count on me to bring the belt! “Marykhin, are you all set?”
After that, things descended into insanity.
Malykhin, who was sitting ringside, climbed into the ring to face Aliakbari, and the two quickly got into it. Malykhin climbed into the ring to attack Aliakbari. Aliakbari faced Malykhin head-to-head in the corner, and Malykhin seized hold of Aliakbari’s neck in a Thai clinch. All of this took place as Chilson was caught in the center of the two massive fighters.
In September of 2021, Aliakbari and Malykhin fought each other in the Circle for the first time, and Malykhin came out on top with a first-round knockout victory. At the time, Malykhin was only a rising contender among many others. He is currently the reigning world champion in both the light heavyweight and heavyweight divisions of ONE.
Aliakbari is on a roll after finishing in the top three positions in his last three races. A bonus in the amount of US$50,000 was awarded to him as a result of his performance versus Joynson.
