According to Superlek, a hypothetical bout versus Takeru Segawa ‘would be a fantastic duel’

Although Superlek Kiatmoo9, the reigning ONE flyweight kickboxing world champion, has a very important fight coming up, he can’t help but look ahead to the future at a potential interesting partnership.

When the newly signed ONE Championship athlete Takeru Segawa of Japan finally makes his way through the ring ropes of the largest martial arts organization in the world later this year, he will be seeking for a debut opponent to face. Segawa is from Japan. And it’s possible that Superlek will be the one to officially welcome him into the Circle.

In a recent interview with South China Morning Post, Superlek expressed his excitement about the opportunity to compete against the legendary Japanese kickboxer.

A spokesman from Kiatmoo9 was quoted as saying:

“The match [versus Takeru] would definitely be an entertaining one. So, yeah, you can count on me.
Many people believe that Takeru Segawa is one of the best fighters in the world, pound-for-pound, and that he is one of the most talented Japanese kickboxers in the history of the sport. He made the announcement that he was joining ONE Championship earlier this year to considerable enthusiasm, and since then, there has been widespread conjecture regarding who he would fight initially.

Takeru will soon be facing Superlek in the ring if Superlek gets his way, and he will be facing Takeru across from him.

But before the Thai star can even begin to think about facing his contemporary from Japan, he has to take care of business against a formidable opponent from Russia this week.

The main event of ONE Fight Night 12 will be a flyweight Muay Thai bout between Thailand’s Superlek Kiatmoo9 and Russia’s Tagir Khalilov. The fight will take place on Prime Video. Superlek Kiatmoo9 is the current holder of the ONE flyweight kickboxing world championship.

On Friday, July 14, the action may be seen live on a broadcast emanating from the illustrious Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

Fans in the United States and Canada have the opportunity to watch all of the action live and without any additional cost by subscribing to Amazon Prime Video.
