While Charles Oliveira is widely considered to be one of the most accomplished lightweight fighters in the history of mixed martial arts (MMA), this was not always the case for ‘do Bronx’.
Oliveira has been competing in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) since 2010, when he was only 21 years old. Fans of the sport who have been following his career have seen him develop into the excellent fighter that he is today.
His early UFC career does not represent the same degree of dominance as his current record of 12-1 in his past 13 fights, as he went 4-4-1 with one no contest in his first five promotional outings. However, the Brazilian is currently 12-1-0 in his last 13 fights.
Three of those four defeats were brought about by a stoppage, with ‘Do Bronx’ being knocked out by Donald Cerrone and Cub Swanson, and Jim Miller submitting ‘Do Bronx’ to the canvas.
Oliveira’s knockout defeat at the hands of Swanson was just uploaded to X by @CapybaraAnalyst, who also posted the following commentary on the video:

Some of the setbacks that ‘do Bronx’ experienced early on in his career, including knockout losses to Swanson and Paul Felder, have been exploited by opponents to assert that Oliveira is a fighter who throws in the towel when things get tough.
During his epic title reign, the Brazilian proved all of his critics wrong. He defeated Michael Chandler, Dustin Poirier, and Justin Gaethje in a matter of twelve months, despite the fact that he had considerable difficulty as a result of being dropped by all three of his opponents.
When is Charles Oliveira fighting again?
‘do Bronx’ rebounded back from a loss in his previous fight against Islam Makhachev with a fantastic first-round knockout over Beneil Dariush, who was also a lightweight contender. Charles Oliveira’s most recent outing inside the octagon was against Dariush while he was competing against another lightweight contender.
Following that, the Brazilian was supposed to fight Makhachev in a rematch at UFC 294, but he was forced to withdraw from the fight few weeks before the fight night due to a serious cut that he received above his eye.
But ‘Do Bronx’ may have the chance to compete against Makhachev once again, since the CEO of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, Dana White, just stated that Oliveira would be competing against Arman Tsarukyan. The winner of this fight is scheduled to compete against Makhachev later on in this year.
At the highly anticipated UFC 300 card, which will take place in April, the former lightweight champion will compete against Tsarukyan. Additionally, an epic lightweight fight between Justin Gaethje and Max Holloway is scheduled to take place on the card.
