UFC star takes a jibe at golfing legend Tiger Woods following recent tampon controversy

One of the UFC’s most outspoken competitors, Sean Strickland, has made fun of Tiger Woods for his most recent tampon controversy.

On the first round of the Genesis Invitational last Thursday, Woods gave a tampon to buddy and fellow golfer Justin Thomas. The renowned golfer is thought to have done so because Thomas was unable to drive the ball as far as he did.
To indirectly reference the sexist notion that someone who plays poorly plays like a girl, Woods’ detractors assert that he gave Thomas the tampon in order to imply that Thomas was a girl.

Sean Strickland, a middleweight fighter for the UFC, has since tweeted about the incident. The movie “Tarzan” jokingly referred to Tiger Woods as “the man who made golf cool.”
Sean Strickland also brought up Tiger Woods’ extramarital affairs, drug usage, and enormous riches. Strickland tweeted that he should have become a golfer and added:

“Why didn’t I become a f**king golfer with all the drugs, women, money, and now this? Nobody informed me that it would be like this.”

Sean Strickland also stated that he should have made golf his profession once more. Strickland wrote in jest, “Oh I’m just pi**ed no one informed me golf was like this…. I would of been bashing balls instead of people,” bemoaning his choice to turn professional in mixed martial arts rather than golf.
According to ESPN, Tiger Woods then clarified that the tampon exchange was a prank and that he and his friend Justin Thomas often play practical jokes on one another. Woods apologised for possibly offending anyone and said

“As I stated, I’m sorry if I offended anyone in any way, shape, or form. It was not the planned outcome. We constantly pull pranks on one another, so I don’t think this came across that way when it went viral, but between us, it was – it’s different.”

Is a potential fight between UFC fan-favorites Sean Strickland and Paulo Costa on the cards?

In January, Sean Strickland defeated Nassourdine Imavov in a light heavyweight contest after being forced to step in for an injured Kelvin Gastelum.

Later, in an Instagram video, Strickland said he’d prefer to fight fellow fan favourite UFC middleweight Paulo Costa. In the caption of his post, “Tarzan” wrote:

“Should @borrachinhamma and I perform the man dance, in my opinion? Even the wine, I’ll buy. What do all of you think?”

Strickland made fun of Costa for blaming alcohol for his defeat to Israel Adesanya in their middleweight title fight, as well as ‘Borrachinha’ for previously missing weight. Costa, on the other hand, didn’t seem to mind Strickland’s digs and jabs. The names of Strickland and Costa’s respective rematch opponents and return dates have not yet been made public.
