UFC fans vote for an Apex event to change venue in landslide numbersĀ

It appears that the location of a potential bantamweight barnburner is causing UFC fans some problems. Fans virtually unanimously voted in a Twitter poll that the fight should take place in front of a crowd rather than an empty Apex.

On February 18, Marlon Vera and Cory Sandhagen will square off at the Apex in the main event. Raquel Pennington vs. Irene Aldana 2 is anticipated to be the main event of UFC San Antonio, which takes place on March 25.

The San Antonio event will draw a crowd, in contrast to the UFC Apex event, which will take place in an empty venue. A recent Twitter poll was conducted by Dutch writer Marcel Dorff to determine which matchup fans believe deserves the biggest crowd. The poll has Vera vs. Sandhagen in a commanding lead.

Fans have already voiced their displeasure over Vera vs. Sandhagen being the main event of a UFC Apex event without any attendees.

Cory Sandhagen happy about the smaller cage for his upcoming UFC Apex event

The octagon in the Apex is 25 feet in diameter rather than the customary 30 feet. When Cory Sandhagen faces Marlon Vera in the main event on February 18, it will be his seventh appearance in a smaller octagon.

Although “Sandman” initially struggled to adapt to a smaller octagon, he now enjoys the faster-paced battles that it demands. Recently, the 30-year-old spoke to MMA Junkie:

I enjoy the difficulty. I enjoy how difficult it is to fight more. As a result of the smaller cage’s limited space for movement, which I can now tolerate after initially finding it difficult, I’ve come to appreciate the challenge. I believe that simply fighting in a smaller cage, having to get a little closer, and giving the opposition more opportunities has improved my fighting skills significantly.
