Tye Ruotolo, a phenom in the sport of submission grappling in the United States, has his sights set on making history in his upcoming battle.
The superstar, who is only twenty years old, will have the chance to battle for the first ever ONE welterweight submission grappling world title against another deadly Russian competitor.
At ONE Fight Night 16: Haggerty vs. Andrade, which will be shown on Prime Video, Ruotolo will compete against Magomed Abdulkadirov. On Friday, November 3, a live broadcast of the event will take place from the illustrious Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
In a recent interview with the YouTube channel The MMA Superfan, Ruotolo stated that he anticipates Abdulkadirov to come in with a conservative approach, just like his other opponents, and that it is up to him to make something happen in the fight.
According to Ruotolo:
“One thing that I’ve seen more about the wrestling style is that they normally tend to play a more conservative game. This is something that I’ve observed more than anything else about the wrestling style. You are aware, and it is one of the things that I would rather not fight against, is that correct? When it comes to fighting, I would rather do so against someone who enjoys charging at me. You are aware that I go in head first, and that is when I discover my window.
Since joining ONE Championship in March of 2022, Ruotolo has been victorious in all four of his bouts, with three of those victories coming via submission. The phenom, who is only 20 years old, claims that earning the submission is the single most important thing to him, and he plans to get it on Abdulkadirov in order to win the championship.
The American continued by saying:
“When it comes to Magomed, I am aware that he is, without a doubt, a little bit bigger than I am; nonetheless, he is not an absurdly large individual. Therefore, even if he does decide to play a game that is more passive and safe, I am certain that I will be able to shorten the space between us and locate the submission. You should know that this is the crux of the matter. That is the only thing that concerns me.”
If Tye is successful, he will follow in the footsteps of his older brother Kade and become a ONE world champion.
