At ONE Fight Night 11, Kade Ruotolo and Tommy Langaker finally faced one other after a long and winding route that led to their inevitable confrontation.
In the second defense of his ONE lightweight submission grappling world championship, which took place on June 9 at the illustrious Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, Ruotolo put his title on the line in the evening’s co-main event.
After getting into a fight with one another at the ADCC finals the previous year, the two competitors had a long wait ahead of them until they could finally settle their quarrel inside the ONE ring.
The fight lived up to the expectations of the numerous spectators and observers that followed it, as it was a fast-paced contest that illustrated how high the level of submission grappling in ONE Championship is.
As was to be expected, Tommy Langaker turned out to be a formidable challenge for the world champion. Kade Ruotolo was victorious in the competition by virtue of a unanimous decision, following a back-and-forth exchange of attempts at submission by both competitors throughout the duration of the fight.
During the post-match interview that took place after the event, Ruotolo discussed the fight and how his opponent lived up to his prior expectations for how it would go:
“It was unquestionably a challenging fight to say the least. Tommy was a formidable adversary to face. Before we started, I had a feeling that he would be a challenging opponent.

Langaker, who needed to dig deep to keep hold of his title, brought out the best in Kade, whose aggressive, high-pace approach once again kept him one step ahead of his opponent. Langaker’s goal was to deny Kade from becoming the champion.
