The bout between Demetrious Johnson and Mikey Musumeci will be decided by the fans.

Mikey Musumeci has gone into great detail about how Demetrious Johnson is the fighter he would most like to face in the ONE Championship.

Although Johnson is not a Brazilian jiu-jitsu practitioner by trade, he is considered to be one of the top grapplers in the sport of mixed martial arts. Johnson now holds the title of ONE Flyweight World Champion.

Musumeci, who is now the holder of the ONE flyweight submission grappling world championship, formed quite a rapport with the MMA great, and he intends to compete in a submission grappling bout with Johnson in the Circle.

In spite of the fact that there have been no official statements made concerning this dream fight, Sportskeeda MMA asked fans to vote on the stipulation they would like to see Johnson and Musumeci compete in.

The fans had the option of either watching either submission grappling or both mixed martial arts and grappling.

In May of this year, Johnson and Musumeci were both competitors on the bill for ONE Fight Night 10 in Denver; yet, it was not until January that the dream match began to acquire traction.

Musumeci was scheduled to defend his gold against Gantumur Bayanduuren on the ONE Fight Night 6 program, and Johnson was present to do his duties as a commentator for the event.

During an interview that took place after the card, Johnson expressed his desire to compete against Musumeci in a grappling fight.

Johnson, on the other hand, stated that once ‘Darth Rigatoni’ isolates a limb, the match might be over in an unusually short amount of time.

“Yeah, I’m probably going to grapple with Mikey Musumeci,” stated Johnson. “I’m down to wrestle with him.” That is to say, he is a wizard. I believe that if you were to team up with me, we would grapple even before we grappled in the circle. I responded by saying, “Dude, once you grab my legs, I’m tapping because I am not going to play that game and test my flexibility.” He looked at me like I was crazy.
Johnson added:

“Because my knees are pretty tight, I’ve had tears in both my lateral and medial collateral ligaments before just from competing in mixed martial arts. To answer your question, yes, I would be entirely down to do that. On the other hand, I’m going to tap really quickly. My knees do not have the same resiliency that Gantumur’s knees possess.
