Superbon is the first to acknowledge that his bout with Tayfun Ozcan was nearly lost due to anxiety.

Superbon Singha Mawynn believed that his fight against Tayfun Ozcan at ONE Fight Night 11: Eersel vs. Menshikov on Prime Video was a turning point in his already illustrious career. This event took place on November 11, 2017.

The Thai superstar had just been knocked out by Chingiz Allazov, which not only ended his unbeaten record of three fights but also resulted in his losing the ONE featherweight kickboxing world championship.

Superbon said that he was quite apprehensive in the moments leading up to his ring walk at the illustrious Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in his birthplace of Bangkok. He needed to score not just a win, but an overwhelming one over Ozcan, and he was fighting for bragging rights.

The following is a quote from an interview that Superbon gave to the South China Morning Post:

“I was experiencing a moderate amount of anxiety. The fight is too important for me to lose. Then I forced myself to relax, and I was able to compose myself. I counseled myself to take a deep breath, settle down, and have faith that I would be successful.

In spite of his fears, Superbon turned in an amazing performance, complete with a finish that was so devastating that it might perhaps be considered for Knockout of the Year.

During the first two rounds of the battle, Ozcan and Superbon exchanged blows with one another, with neither combatant surrendering an inch. Things stayed pretty much the same as they were in the second, but this time Superbon was successful in reaching his objective.

After repeatedly targeting the Turkish star’s guard, Superbon found the ideal counter when he took a right hook and immediately followed it up with a lightning-fast left roundhouse kick that knocked Ozcan out 1 minute 46 seconds into the second round.

Superbon got his name back in the win column with this victory, and his record in ONE Championship is currently 4-1. After going undefeated in his first three fights, Superbon now hopes that his victory over Ozcan will put him in a rematch against Allazov for the ONE featherweight kickboxing world title. Allazov is now the holder of that title.
