Rodtang Jitmuangnon is aware that there are a number of obstacles he must overcome in order to prevail over Superlek Kiatmoo9 in the main event of ONE Friday Fights 34. However, speed is not one of those obstacles.
On September 22, the ONE flyweight Muay Thai world champion will square off against his longtime compatriot and close friend at the illustrious Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
On his path to a fantastic 2023 campaign so far, “The Iron Man” has seen Superlek destroy one challenger after another. In addition to this, he has researched the techniques that the ONE flyweight kickboxing world champion possesses prior to their highly anticipated matchup.
Although he believes that the explosiveness and kicking power of ‘The Kicking Machine’ will serve as tools that will alert him on fight night, the Jitmuangnon Gym athlete is confident that he will outrun his fellow countryman when they exchange leather in the pocket.
Rodtang had the following to say when he was asked by ONE Championship:
“I believe that he is a little bit slower, and he relies far too heavily on counterattacks. I believe that I can outrun him in terms of speed.”
However, the veteran divisional king won’t just have a speed advantage over ‘The Kicking Machine.’ He’ll also have other advantages.
Rodtang’s Muay Mat style means that his body and chin are conditioned to endure several strikes while still finding a place for his elbows and punches. This is in addition to the fact that Rodtang’s hands and tempo are highly educated.
And the longstanding world champion in the flyweight division of Muay Thai believes that his style has the potential to propel him to another classic victory over Superlek at ONE Friday Fights 34.
You can watch the entire card live on ONE Championship’s YouTube page and on the ONE Super App on September 22. The event will take place at primetime in Asia.
