Rodtang Jitmuangnon, better known by his ring as “The Iron Man,” is the reigning and undisputed ONE flyweight Muay Thai world champion. He has recently been under fire for the stunning revelation that he barely practices for fights anymore, which he made in recent interviews.
The way in which he trained for the bout against Edgar Tabares in May of last year was just incredible. It was Rodtang’s first fight on American soil, and it took place at ONE Fight Night 10 in Denver, Colorado, in front of a crowd that was completely sold out.
Before entering the ring with Tabares, ‘The Iron Man’ put in a whopping two days of training.
Within the first two rounds of the bout, Rodtang won the battle in spectacular way by knocking out Tabares with his devastating elbow blow. Those who follow his career closely were left with a sour taste in their mouths because of the ‘lazy’ training routine he followed, despite the remarkable results he achieved.
Rodtang provided an explanation while making a guest appearance on the podcast hosted by Antoine Pinto.
According to ‘The Iron Man,’
“I put in a lot of work to prepare for key fights. Another thing: even if I don’t workout as much as I should, I still go on runs, play soccer, and participate in other activities that I enjoy. I don’t have the habit of doing nothing but lounging about all day. I don’t frequent bars or clubs. I don’t put my body through that.
Because Rodtang’s upcoming match is, without a doubt, highly crucial, let’s hope he had a good training session for it.
‘The Iron Man’ Rodtang Jitmuangnon is scheduled to defend his ONE flyweight Muay Thai world title against ‘The Kicking Machine’ Superlek Kiatmoo9, who has the title of ONE flyweight kickboxing world champion and is currently ranked as the No. 1 Muay Thai contender.
The fight between these two will take place in the main event of ONE Friday Fights 34, which will be broadcast live from the legendary Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand this coming Friday, September 22, during the primetime hours in Asia.
Fans in the United States and Canada will be able to watch all of the action of ONE Friday Fights 34 live and for free on the ONE Super App, the official YouTube channel for ONE Championship, and other digital platforms. The event will take place in Las Vegas, Nevada.
