Rodtang Jitmuangnon gave some thought to the support he has had from fans in the United States.
The inaugural ONE Championship tournament that took place in the United States of America took place on May 5 of this year. Rodtang successfully defended his ONE flyweight Muay Thai world title with a highlight-reel knockout against Edgar Tabares in the co-main event of ONE Fight Night 10 in Manila, Philippines. The Thai superstar was immediately met with a standing ovation from the audience in the United States once they saw him get his hand raised.
Although he fights most frequently in Asia, “The Iron Man” has also conducted a number of seminars here in the United States. The 26-year-old athlete had the following to say about his fans in the United States of America during an interview with CUTZRADIO:
“I want to begin by discussing the environment with you all in the first place. My title defense in the United States of America is a brand new experience for me. Even though I’ve been there twice, I was only there to conduct a presentation both times. However, this will be the first time that I compete in front of spectators from all around the world.
On September 22, Rodtang will make his return to action, and he will do so against an opponent who is widely considered to be his hardest foe since joining ONE. The Thai superstar will defend his ONE flyweight Muay Thai world title against Superlek Kiatmoo9, who is the ONE flyweight kickboxing world champion.
The fight between “The Kicking Machine” and “The Iron Man” was supposed to take place in March, however “The Iron Man” had to bow out due to an injury, the nature of which was not divulged. Superlek will now have the opportunity to compete in two different sports at the world championship level, bringing his record in promotional Muay Thai to a perfect 9-0.
The match between Rodtang and Superlek will serve as the main event for ONE Friday Fights 34, which will take place at the illustrious Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
