Martin Nguyen, a former two-division world champion, is psyched for the forthcoming champion-versus-champion clash that will take place between ONE bantamweight MMA world champion Fabricio Andrade and ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world champion Jonathan Haggerty. Nguyen is excited for the fight since it will pit one champion against another champion.
The former ONE featherweight and lightweight world champion is excited to watch the elite striking match between the two feared knockout artists that will take place as the main event of ONE Fight Night 16 for the vacant ONE bantamweight kickboxing world title on Friday, November 3, inside of the iconic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand. The fight will take place for the world title.
The most recent interview that ‘The Situ-Asian’ gave for ONE Championship was where he disclosed that, out of the two world champions, he considers Haggerty to be the more dangerous fighter.
The Australian-Vietnamese martial artist backed his claim and said that his steady and gradual move up in categories has suited him well in terms of speed and power, two crucial characteristics that would be of the utmost significance in his fight against Andrade.
According to Nguyen:
“Jonathan Haggerty, he’s made the move up from the flyweight division, and he’s on a roll. Naturally, increasing the power also increases the pace. It’s quite terrifying to be on the other side of him right now.”
Because he talks from his personal experience of being a two-division world champion, the athlete who represents Hard Knocks 365 is the best athlete to provide this statement and viewpoint. There is no other athlete who is better qualified to do so.
In addition to the acclaim that he received from Nguyen, ‘The General’s’ record is still another indication of his superiority.
Since making his debut in a professional capacity in January 2019, Haggerty has amassed a record of 6-2 in the most prestigious martial arts organization in the world. His only two defeats came at the hands of Rodtang, while he triumphed over Joseph Lasiri, Sam-A Gaiyanghadao, Taiki Naito, Mongkolpetch Petchyindee, Vladimir Kuzmin, and Nong-O Hama. Rodtang was responsible for both of his defeats.
In the meantime, ‘Wonder Boy’ will be entering the competition with an undefeated record in ONE Championship and a proven track record of ending fights within the distance. The striking specialist has won four knockouts so far, against Li Kai Wen, Jeremy Pacatiw, Kwon Won Il, and John Lineker respectively.
The Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand will serve as the host venue for ONE Fight Night 16 which will take place on Friday, November 3. The full event will be broadcast live and for free during primetime in the United States for those who have a subscription to Amazon Prime Video in North America.
