Jake Paul explains reasoning behind Andre August matchup, outlines future plans

Jake Paul’s professional boxing career has been comprised of fights against former mixed martial artists or other notable boxers up until this point in his career. His one and only defeat occurred at the hands of Tommy Fury, who was one of the most accomplished boxers he had ever faced.

On the other hand, Andre August signifies a change in the typical characteristics of his adversaries. During an interview on The Mixed Martial Arts Hour, Paul provided an explanation for his decision to fight August, stating that it was a step on his path to becoming a world champion:

“There are a great number of reasons. To a large extent, it is for me, for my experience, for my path to the world championship, and for my development within the squared circle, which consists of those four corners. and to accumulate the necessary amount of time. People probably felt that I was trying to sell more fights or get people’s attention when I announced that I wanted to become world champion. They also thought that it was just a gimmick or that I was saying it for marketing purposes. It was true that I meant what I said when I said it.

On the other hand, Jake Paul proceeded by saying that he had made sufficient money from the sport and would now concentrate on “real boxing”:

“I am putting on an act like a boxer prospect right now. The reason for this is that I am gaining experience in the ring, taking on obstacles, and maintaining my expertise in camp. Putting in a lot of effort and labor. Now is the moment for me to be able to reach that level of excellence where I am considered to be the finest in the world. I have my mind fixed on that location, and that is where I intend to be when I find myself there. It is my most important objective, and this is the way I want to achieve it. Getting all of this money and running a business are no longer as important. I have already managed to earn $250 million, with pay-per-view sales amounting to $200 million. That has been accomplished by us. Amazing. You are very welcome. This is about boxing in its purest form now.
