Because of his aggressive and explosive fighting style, Filipino strawweight superstar Lito Adiwang is without a doubt one of the most exciting athletes on the whole ONE Championship roster. This is something that always excites the spectators everytime he steps inside the Circle, which is why he is considered to be one of the most entertaining athletes on the ONE Championship roster.
Because of his extraordinary strength, speed, and athleticism, he became known as the “Thunder Kid.” This was the ideal recipe for earning the name “Thunder Kid.” Adiwang is currently back in competition following a layoff of eighteen months, the majority of which were spent on his rehabilitation from the torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his right knee, which he sustained during his most recent bout with Jeremy Miado in March 2022.
The 30-year-old fighter has now completely recovered and is ready to participate. His next opponent will be ONE Championship veteran Adran Mattheis, and their fight will be the first featured event of ONE Friday Fights 34, which will take place on September 22 at the Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
In a recent interview with ONE Championship, the now-HIIT Studio representative stated that he anticipates a difficult struggle with the Indonesian fighter and that he has envisioned the situation in which he will find himself after the bell rings.
Adiwang revealed to us:
“In my head, the fight is already full with tension and excitement right from the beginning. I have a feeling that it’s going to devolve into a full-on fight of punches and kicks. We’ll see which one of us is the more well-rounded and effective fighter amongst the two of us.
But the ‘Thunder Kid’ has revealed his game plan for when he faces Mattheis, and it involves winning the match by whatever means necessary, whether it is by strikes or by submitting Mattheis, as he explained further:
“One of the things that I want to happen is to get a knockout or submission on him that will look great on the highlight reel. The prospect of merely trading blows with him, given that he is a tremendously aggressive fighter as well, excites me to no end.
Due to the fact that Adiwang and Mattheis have finished 13 of their combined 16 victories in ONE Championship through submissions, knockouts, or technical knockouts, fans have every reason to anticipate that their bout will be a high-level barnburner.
