Black belt in jiu-jitsu in the United States Although Mikey Musumeci has found the adjustment from competitive Gi to No Gi to be rather simple, he has acknowledged that it has required a great deal of hard effort on his part.

Since beginning his No Gi jiu-jitsu career in 2021, ‘Darth Rigatoni’ has had a great deal of success, including taking home the ONE Flyweight Submission Grappling World Title in October of the previous year.

Mikey Musumeci discussed the progress he’s made with his No Gi training in an interview with ONE Championship. He said the following:

“My technical ability in finishing submissions, that’s what I’ve been working so hard for in no-gi ever since I made the transition from traditional grappling to no-gi,” you may quote her as saying. The year 2021 was comparable to my first year of competition in No Gi.
The grappling juggernaut, who is 27 years old, continued:

“So, it’s been about two years now that I’ve been working really hard in no-gi, and yeah, it’s a lot different than the gi because you need to have perfect finishing mechanics to finish people.” “So, it’s been about two years now that I’ve been working really hard in no-gi.”
One of the primary distinctions between Gi and No Gi jiu-jitsu is the garments that are worn while training.

The original Gi uniform, which consists of a coat and pants made of thick cotton, must be worn by anybody who practices the art of Gi. In addition to its function as clothes, the judo uniform may be utilized in the performance of judo techniques such as holding an opponent, performing Judo throws, and submitting an opponent.

It is not necessary to wear a uniform to practice no-gi jiu-jitsu.

Although Gi and No Gi grappling have certain similarities in terms of methods, they are very different in terms of tactics. The latter relies more on wrestling-based grips as well as body mechanics and hand location, among other things, in order for someone to win. Gi grappling relies more on wrestling-based grips.

In October, Mikey Musumeci will continue his No Gi journey under the auspices of ONE Championship by competing against Shinya Aoki, a legendary fighter from Japan.

At ONE Fight Night 15 on Prime Video, which will take place on October 6 at the Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, the two best grapplers will compete against one another in an openweight submission grappling contest.

This past month, Mikey Musumeci successfully defended the world championship he has in the flyweight division of submission grappling for the organization ONE. In a fight between the division’s top two champions, he won via submission (a combination of a triangle choke and armbar) and became the new king of the strawweight division.

Prime Video users in North America have the opportunity to watch ONE Fight Night 15 live and at no additional cost.
