It was Trevor Wittman. How does the design of MMA gloves developed by Justin Gaethje’s instructor compare to that of the UFC?

Published:

Many people in the mixed martial arts community have lauded the ONX MMA gloves designed by Justin Gaethje’s coach Trevor Wittman and given them the name ‘X-Factor’ since they appear to fix several of the issues that are caused by the existing UFC gloves.

Eye pokes are a problem that has afflicted the sport of mixed martial arts (MMA) for a considerable amount of time. As a direct consequence of this, a number of fights have been stopped in the middle of the action or one combatant has gained an unfair edge over the other.

However, the gloves developed by Trevor Wittman appear to overcome this problem, and they also have the potential to protect fighters from wrist injuries.

ONX gloves are designed to naturally curve inwards and produce a fist when the wearer closes their hand. Fight competitors are unable to spread their fingers and cause an eye poke, whether on purpose or by accident, as a result of this rule. In addition, the gloves have a strapping system that provides support for the wrist and its ligaments, so protecting the wrists of the fighters from injury.

These gloves do not have any leather on the palm or wrist areas where they are worn. Instead, a different substance is utilized to prevent slipping within the gloves, which could result in injury if it were not prevented.

Rashad Evans, a former champion of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, was a guest on Joe Rogan’s show a few years back. Evans showed the UFC commentator, Joe Rogan, the new gloves that were made by Wittman during his appearance on “The Joe Rogan Experience,” which was hosted by Evans.

In front of Rogan on the podcast, the former champion demonstrated the ‘X-Factor’ glove and enumerated the features that the glove possessed.

“By doing this, your hands are able to remain in their natural position, which is with the fists closed and curved right away. When you look inside, you’ll notice a strapping system designed to prevent boxing breaks in the hands; this system also maintains the integrity of the muscles, ligaments, and bone by holding everything in place. According to Rashad Evans, “Everything is in form when you’re punching because of the way that you’re doing it.”

Trevor Wittman MMA gloves: Why hasn’t the UFC struck a deal with the MMA coach?

Trevor Wittman’s ONX MMA gloves have garnered accolades from a number of well-known MMA fighters, including Justin Gaethje, Joe Rogan, and Belal Muhammad, amongst others.

However, a number of years have passed, and there is still no indication that the ‘X-Factor’ gloves may possibly be implemented in the UFC. According to the mixed martial arts (MMA) instructor, this pertains to the question of who owns the patent for the design of the glove.

During an appearance on ‘The Joe Rogan Experience,’ Wittman revealed that the UFC wanted to acquire the design patent, which led to the transaction between the two sides falling through. This was the cause of the deal going through.
