As a result of a new broadcasting agreement between ONE Championship and Sky Sports, veteran striker Liam Harrison is overjoyed to see that fans in the United Kingdom will now be able to watch British fighters like him battle in ONE Championship.
Recently, ONE made the announcement that it had entered into a collaboration with Sky Sports, the most prominent sports broadcaster in the United Kingdom and Ireland, in order to ensure that its internationally renowned martial arts competitions be broadcast in the region.
Harrison, who goes by the nickname “Hitman,” told onefc.com that the arrangement is a positive step for fighters like him who are from the United Kingdom and Ireland since it gives them the opportunity to demonstrate their abilities to their fans back in their native countries.
The native of Leeds, who is 38 years old, stated:
For the entirety of my professional life, I had been anticipating this moment. It is unfortunate that it will come at the conclusion of my career, but I am hopeful that I will have the opportunity to demonstrate my abilities on Sky Sports for at least a year or two. Additionally, it is a fantastic incentive for all of the newcomers in the industry.
Both ONE and Sky Sports, when outlining their recently formed cooperation, stated that the transaction was based on their shared ambition of further expanding their respective companies on a variety of different levels.
The cooperation agreement will go into effect during the broadcast of ONE Fight Night 18, which will take place on January 13. The event will take place in the Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, and the flyweight kickboxing world title battle between the reigning champion Superlek Kiatmoo9 of Thailand and the challenger Elias Mahmoudi of Algeria will be the main attraction.

Additionally, Liam Harrison will be competing in a Muay Thai match at ONE Fight Night 18, where he will face John Lineker, a Brazilian fighter who previously held the title of bantamweight MMA world champion.
Following an injury to his knee that occurred during a bout in August of the previous year, “Hitman” will be making his return to competition with this event.
Liam Harrison has stated his excitement about his upcoming homecoming match, particularly due to the fact that it will be televised live to his fans in the United Kingdom as part of a strategic partnership between ONE Championship and Sky Sports.
An interview with the South China Morning Post revealed that he is also looking forward to competing against Lineker, a fellow senior martial artist who he views to be an intriguing proposition. He shared the following information with the publication:
“All I want is a f***ing fight,” she said. When I googled him after the match, I was surprised to find out that he was ranked in the Ultimate Fighting Championship at the time. Please excuse my ignorance, but I don’t really follow mixed martial arts at all. He is definitely a highly well-known figure in the field of mixed martial arts. “He is obviously a huge name in it, he was ranked among the top five in the UFC, and he is the champion of ONE Championship.”
The broadcast of ONE Fight Night 18 will begin at one o’clock in the morning, GMT, on Sky Sports.
