On Friday night, the winner of the atomweight gold bout in the ONE Championship will be determined, and the current women’s atomweight world champion, ‘Unstoppable’ Angela Lee, will be on hand to watch the drama unfold from the sidelines.
In the main event of ONE Fight Night 14 that will be streamed on Prime Video, former ONE atomweight Muay Thai and kickboxing world champion and current No. 1 rated atomweight contender Stamp Fairtex will take on South Korean fighter ‘Hamzzang’ Ham Seo Hee, who is currently ranked No. 2 in the atomweight division.
On Friday, September 29, the event will be presented in its entirety through live broadcast from the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Singapore.
In light of Lee’s absence, the woman who emerges victorious from this competition will be given the title of ONE Women’s Interim Atomweight Mixed Martial Arts World Champion.
Mitch ‘The Dragon’ Chilson, a seasoned broadcast analyst for ONE Championship, asked Lee about her opinions on the forthcoming Stamp vs. Ham fight. Lee offered her comments with Chilson.
The Singaporean-American celebrity had these words to say:
“I have a feeling that both of these girls are going to give it their all. Whoever has the bigger heart is going to emerge victorious, in my opinion. Now, let’s examine this further. When the stakes are this high, I don’t want to gamble on anyone because it feels like everything is on the line.
Lee has not competed since her defeat at the hands of ‘The Panda’ Xiong Jing Nan in October 2022 in Singapore, when they were both competing for the ONE women’s strawweight MMA world championship. Victoria, a younger sister of Lee who competed in ONE Championship, took her own life in December of last year. Victoria was a fellow fighter.
Since then, Lee has not returned to the circle, and there is no indication that anyone knows whether or if she will do so in the future. Because of this, ONE Championship has decided to create an interim belt, which will be up for grabs at the fourteenth installment of ONE Fight Night.
